2018 75th Anniversary of First Flag Hoisting Day – ₹75 Silver Proof Coin – Mumbai Mint

A historically significant ₹75 Proof Coin issued in 2018 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the first hoisting of the Tricolour by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Port Blair on 30 December 1943.

The coin commemorates Netaji's historic flag hoisting at Port Blair, an important event associated with the Indian freedom movement. The reverse depicts Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose saluting the National Flag against the backdrop of the Cellular Jail, with the inscriptions “FIRST FLAG HOISTING DAY”, “75TH ANNIVERSARY” and “30-12-1943 – 30-12-2018.”

The ₹75 coin is made from a quaternary alloy containing 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel and 5% zinc. It weighs 35 grams, measures 44 mm in diameter and has 200 serrations. The coin was issued as a non-circulating commemorative coin and the Proof version was struck by the Mumbai Mint.
