Akbar Silver Rupee Ilahi 39 – Ahmadabad Mint | Bahman | A. Liddle S53 | Almost Uncirculated | Scarce
A historically important Mughal silver Rupee of Emperor Akbar (1556–1605 AD), struck at the Ahmadabad Mint in the Ilahi era, Year 39, with the month Bahman. Weighing approximately 11.41 g, this coin belongs to Akbar's celebrated Ilahi coinage, introduced as part of his distinctive monetary system.
The obverse carries the famous Persian inscription “Allah-u-Akbar, Jal Jalala”, while the reverse records the Ilahi month, regnal year and Ahmadabad mint name. This type is catalogued as A. Liddle S53.
The present specimen is graded Almost Uncirculated (AU), retaining strong lettering, design details and attractive surfaces. Its scarce classification, historical importance and association with Akbar's experimental Ilahi calendar make it a desirable addition to collections of Mughal coins, Akbar coinage, Indian silver coins and medieval Indian numismatics.
