1952 Indian Post & Telegraph department UPU congress Brussels Presentation pack
The 1952 Indian Post & Telegraph Department UPU Congress (Brussels) Presentation Pack is one of the scarcer presentation items issued by independent India in the early 1950s. It was prepared for delegates attending the 13th Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress held in Brussels, Belgium, in 1952, where postal administrations from member countries exchanged official philatelic material and presentation packs. The Brussels Congress was a significant meeting in the development of international postal regulations. The 1948 Gandhi stamps were printed by Courvoisier in Switzerland using a gum that proved unsuitable for India's humid climate. Many original mint sheets and presentation packs became adhered to the thin interleaving paper supplied with them. The Gandhi Stamps are stuck on the sheet. Rest the 1947 to 1951 (except 1948) stamps including Travancore and Hyderabad stamps are MNH.
