KUWAIT - 1939 15r brown and green overprint on stamp of India, wmk upright, SG 51, very fine ...
George VI Kuwait 1939 15 Rupees Brown and Green, overprinted on the corresponding stamp of British India (Watermark Multiple Stars, upright), SG 51, is one of the key high-value stamps of the King George VI Kuwait overprint series. Produced by overprinting Indian definitive stamps with “KUWAIT” for use under the Indian Postal Administration in the Gulf, it reflects the close postal and administrative ties between Kuwait and British India during the pre-war period. The stamp features the finely engraved portrait of King George VI in an elegant brown and green colour combination and was intended primarily for parcels, registration fees, and other high-value postal transactions. Due to its substantial face value, postal demand was limited, making well-preserved examples significantly less common than the lower denominations of the series. This Very Fine example displays fresh colour, sharp overprint, and attractive overall appearance, characteristics highly valued by collectors. As the second-highest denomination of the 1939 Kuwait overprinted set, SG 51 is a desirable item in collections of Kuwait, Gulf States, British Commonwealth, and Indian overprinted philately.
