1998 Sri Aurobindo Proof Set with Original Box

The 1998 Sri Aurobindo Proof Set with Original Box was issued by the Mumbai Mint to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo (1872–1950), renowned philosopher, yogi, poet, and freedom fighter. The proof set contains four commemorative coins of ₹100, ₹50, ₹10, and ₹2, each featuring a portrait of Sri Aurobindo on the reverse and the Ashoka Lion Capital on the obverse. The ₹100 and ₹50 coins are struck in quaternary alloy, the ₹10 coin in cupronickel, and the ₹2 coin in stainless steel, all produced in high-quality proof finish and housed in an official presentation case.
