Akbar Silver Rupee Ilahi 49 – Sitpur Mint, Mihr/Mihir | KM 94.4 | NGS MS64 | Scarce
Akbar Silver Rupee, Sitpur Mint, Ilahi Year 49, Month Mihr (Mihir), 11.3g, KM 94.4, NGS MS64, Scarce. A superb Mughal silver rupee of Emperor Akbar (1556–1605 AD) from the rare Sitpur Mint, identified with present-day Siddhpur in Gujarat. This distinctive Ilahi coin belongs to Akbar's later reign and bears the month Mihr (Mihir) and Ilahi Year 49. The coin is particularly attractive for its ornamental floral motifs, adding to the artistic character of Akbar's celebrated Ilahi coinage. The Sitpur Mint is especially interesting to collectors because its silver issues are associated with the late Ilahi years and the Mihr month. The present specimen is certified NGS MS64, placing it in a high-grade mint-state category and making it considerably more desirable than the usual VF/EF examples seen in the market.
