Rwanda Olympic thematic stamps

1. Montreal Olympics 1976 (Top Two Rows)

These colorful "rainbow" stamps were issued to commemorate the XXI Olympic Games, Montreal, Canada (1976). They depict various sporting disciplines including:

• Shooting
• Swimming
• Athletics
• Equestrian
• Gymnastics
• Weightlifting
• Football
• Diving

The pastel blue stamps in the center are companion issues depicting Olympic sports and the Montreal emblem. Rwanda issued several Olympic sets in 1976 to capitalize on the worldwide popularity of the Games.

2. Munich Olympics 1972 (Bottom Row and Right Side)

These stamps commemorate the XX Summer Olympic Games held in Munich, West Germany, in 1972. The designs include:

• Field Hockey (30c)
• Equestrian (20c)
• High Jump (1F)
• Athletics (30c)
• Basketball (50c)

The Munich issues were designed by Oscar Bonnevalle and form part of an 8-stamp set issued on 16 August 1972.

3. Moscow Olympics 1980

The yellow stamp in the center:

• 20c – Gymnastics (Moscow 1980)

This belongs to Rwanda's 1980 Olympic Games series celebrating the Moscow Olympics. The full set consisted of eight stamps depicting different sporting events.
