The underlying Indian note is dated 1940, although the Burma Currency Board overprint issue was released in 1947. signed by C. E. Jones. Government of India 1940 One Rupee note with red five-line overprint “BURMA CURRENCY BOARD – LEGAL TENDER IN BURMA ONLY.” Green serial numbers with Inset A, watermark portrait of King George VI.
