1910 King Edward VII 1 Rupee – Calcutta Mint | XF to About Uncirculated (AU)

(0 review)

Struck in 1910 during the final year of the reign of King Edward VII, this silver 1 Rupee is a significant issue from the Edwardian period of British India. Minted at the Calcutta Mint, the coin bears no mint mark, as was customary for Calcutta issues. The obverse features the crowned and draped portrait of King Edward VII, while the reverse displays the denomination and date within the elegant floral wreath design that characterizes the classic British India Rupee series.

Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated (XF–AU) condition, this specimen retains exceptional detail across both obverse and reverse, with only light wear visible on the highest points. Much of the original mint sharpness remains evident in the portrait, legends, and floral wreath, making it a particularly attractive example for collectors. Struck in .917 fine silver, the coin combines historical significance, precious metal content, and strong visual appeal.

As one of the final rupee issues of King Edward VII before the accession of George V, the 1910 Calcutta Mint Rupee occupies an important place in British Indian numismatics. Its superior state of preservation and historical importance make it a desirable addition to collections of British India silver coinage, Edwardian issues, and world crown-sized coins.
