The
1878 One Rupee of Queen
Victoria, struck at the Bombay Mint, is a distinguished
silver coin of British India and a popular collectible among numismatists. The
obverse features the crowned portrait of Queen Victoria facing left with
the legend “VICTORIA QUEEN,”
while the reverse bears the denomination “ONE RUPEE INDIA 1878” enclosed
within an ornate floral wreath. This coin is identified as the “1 Dot Between Flower &
Date” variety, a recognized Bombay Mint die variety
distinguished by a single dot positioned between the floral ornament and the
date on the reverse. Struck in .917 fine silver, the coin
