The 1862 Victoria Queen Silver Quarter Rupee (¼ Rupee), struck at the Calcutta Mint (A/I issue), is a very scarce and highly desirable early British India coin. Catalogued as GK 375, this piece features the youthful portrait of Queen Victoria on the obverse and the classic wreath design with denomination on the reverse. A notable diagnostic feature of this variety is the small inverted “V” mark located at the center of the base line of the bust, an important detail for specialist collectors of Victorian die varieties.
