India 1947 Independence 'Jai Hind' Complete Set of 3 Stamps – MNH
A historic Mint Never Hinged (MNH) complete set of the first commemorative stamps of Independent India, issued in 1947 to celebrate the nation's independence. Popularly known as the "Jai Hind" issue, each stamp bears the inscription "जय हिन्द" (Jai Hind) and the date 15 August 1947, symbolizing the birth of a free India. Although Independence was achieved on 15 August 1947, the stamps were released later due to post-Partition administrative challenges. The 3½ Anna National Flag stamp was issued on 21 November 1947, while the 1½ Anna Ashokan Capital and 12 Anna Douglas DC-4 Aircraft stamps were issued on 15 December 1947.
This complete MNH set includes:
- 3½ Anna – Indian National Flag
- 1½ Anna – Ashokan Lion Capital (National Emblem)
- 12 Anna – Douglas DC-4 Aircraft
A cornerstone of Indian philately, the 1947 Jai Hind set is one of the most iconic issues of modern India and is highly sought after by collectors of Independence, Commonwealth, and classic Indian postage stamps. A premium addition to any serious stamp collection.
