British India 1 Rupee, Bombay Mint, 1884.

The 1884 One Rupee of Queen Victoria, struck at the Bombay Mint, is a notable silver coin of British India and a sought-after variety among collectors. The obverse features the crowned portrait of Queen Victoria facing left with the legend “VICTORIA QUEEN,” while the reverse displays “ONE RUPEE INDIA 1884” within an ornate floral wreath. This specimen belongs to the recognized “Raised B on Top Flower” variety, distinguished by a raised letter “B” appearing on the upper flower of the wreath, serving as a distinctive Bombay Mint die marker. Struck in .917 fine silver, the coin weighs approximately 11.66 grams, measures about 30.5 mm in diameter, and features a reeded edge. Combining Victorian artistry, historical significance, and an interesting mint variety, the 1884 Bombay Mint rupee is a prized addition to collections of British Indian silver coinage.
