George V, Silver, Rupee, 1919, Bombay Mint, Dot,. GK 1040. NGS Slabbed MS 61. Scarce.

George V Silver Rupee 1919, Bombay Mint (Dot variety) (GK 1040) is a British India circulation coin struck in .917 fine silver as part of the imperial rupee series used widely across the Indian subcontinent in the post–First World War period. The obverse bears the crowned and draped bust of King George V with imperial inscriptions, while the reverse features the denomination “One Rupee” within a floral wreath along with the date and Bombay mint mark, with the noted Dot variety indicating a specific minting or die characteristic used for identification within this issue. This type continued the standardised rupee design that supported everyday commerce across colonial India during a period of economic transition following the war. The example graded NGC MS61 is an uncirculated specimen showing original mint luster with minor contact marks typical of bag storage, making it a lower-end Mint State coin, and it is described as “Scarce” due to its relative availability in certified higher-grade condition within the 1919 Bombay Mint rupee series.
