Edward VII, Silver, Rupee, 1905, Calcutta Mint, No mint mark. GK 934. PCGS Slabbed AU 58.Scarce.

Edward VII Silver Rupee 1905, Calcutta Mint (GK 934) is a British India circulation coin struck in .917 fine silver as part of the imperial rupee series used widely across the Indian subcontinent during the Edwardian period. The obverse features the crowned and draped bust of King Edward VII with imperial inscriptions, while the reverse displays the denomination “One Rupee” within a floral wreath along with the date of issue, typically without a distinct mint mark for Calcutta issues of this type. This coin represents the standardized silver rupee design that served as the backbone of everyday monetary transactions in colonial India in the early 20th century. The example graded PCGS AU58 is an About Uncirculated specimen showing slight wear on the highest points with strong remaining mint luster and sharp details, placing it just below Mint State condition. Its designation as “Scarce” reflects its relative availability in lower grades but increased desirability in high-end circulated or near-uncirculated preservation.
