Victoria Empress, Silver, Rupee, 1886, Bombay Mint, C2/I(i), 'B' incused. GK 525. PCGS Slabbed AU 58. Very Scarce.

Queen Victoria Silver Rupee 1886, Bombay Mint (C2/I(i), “B” incused variety) (GK 525) is a British India imperial coin struck in .917 fine silver during the later Victorian period, when the rupee had become a standardized trade coin across the Indian subcontinent under the British Raj. The obverse bears the crowned and veiled portrait of Queen Victoria with the legend “Victoria Empress,” while the reverse features the denomination “One Rupee” within a floral wreath, along with the date and Bombay mint mark. This particular type is identified by the C2/I(i) portrait classification and the distinctive “B” incused variety, a minting characteristic that adds numismatic interest for specialists in die and mint variations. The example graded PCGS AU58 is an About Uncirculated coin showing only slight wear on the highest points while retaining strong remaining mint luster, making it a high-end circulated specimen. Its designation as “Very Scarce” reflects its relative difficulty in higher preservation grades, especially for recognized varieties within the 1886 Bombay Mint rupee series.
